Congratulations to Widnes Academy student Amir Hajri who made his first team debut on Saturday.
Hajri was named on the bench for Widnes’s Northern Division One North West home fixture against Brighouse Town and replaced Fisnik Hajdari in the 77th minute to make his senior debut.
Amir becomes the 53rd player from the NPL Football Academy to make their first team debut and also the first ever Widnes Academy student to do so.
The Widnes academy captain has been in fine form this season, and his side currently sit at the top of the Sports Traider Division table. He has also featured in the Team of the Week four times and was nominated for player of the month for September/October.
Craig Davies, who coaches the Widnes academy team was recently appointed as the first team head coach for Widnes. It’s great to see him already developing pathways from the academy side to the first team and we wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season.
