The NPL Football Academy is delighted to announce that Matlock Town student Corey Bulheller has secured a scholarship in America.

Corey joined the progamme in September 2015 after doing the first year of his BTEC in Sport Level 3 at Chesterfield FC.

He has now gained a four year scholarship to Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, doing a major in Sports Management/Psychology.

Bulheller stated “Having a career in sport is something i have always wanted to do. My ambition is to work at a professional football club in the future and i believe gaining a degree is the best way to do this. I am interested in working with players psychologically and helping them to perform to the best of their abilities and i am looking forward to discovering how that happens.”

On his time at the NPL Football Academy, Bulheller commented “I have enjoyed my time with the NPL Football Academy after completing my first year as a scholar at Chesterfield FC. It is a lot better and organised as well as having a good league structure to help me progress in football by playing regularly and completing my education which i believe i got the best grades in the whole organisation”

Bulheller impressed a lot of people with his ability and was selected for the Matlock Town reserves and the NPL Football Academy’s inter league games against Oldham Athletic and Accrington Stanley as the number one goalkeeper.

On his inclusion “I was proud to be selected to play in the NPLFA inter league squad against Oldham and Accrington and thoroughly enjoyed the experience”

I would recommend the NPL Football Academy as if a player puts in the effort, he will get the results and see progress to be able to have the opportunities to do a sports scholarship in American or to a professional club.

The games programme and training is good and will help players progress which i believe has helped me massively”

Everyone at the NPL Football Academy would like to wish Corey the best of luck in America as he travels out today (Friday 12th August)

We are sure that if he continues to work hard like has done over the last year, he will be a success in anything he chooses to do.
