The inaugural ESPFA awards show was an overwhelming success when aired live on Friday evening. Due to the current situation with the planned awards having to be cancelled the education and football programmes media team quickly organised an online awards show combining both the NPL Football Academy (NPLFA) and Southern League Football Academy (SLFA) and it proved to be a real winner. Tutors and coaches picked their student of the year for in classroom and on the pitch performances, along with a team of the year, league player of the year, the golden boot winner and of the goal of the season.
The winning students gave their thanks by video and the tutors and coaches explained why they had chosen the winners along with clips of goals throughout the 75 minute programme, 'Head of Media' Jack Cavill said, “We are really pleased with the programme and especially the response where on the night we had just short of 2000 viewers, we were on a tight schedule to complete and all the media team would like to thank everyone who contributed to making it happen” he added, “The students, tutors and coaches were brilliant in their responses and congratulations to all those winners”
An awards evening online has never been attempted at this level of education or football previously and the response and feedback from students, parents, organisations and sponsors has been excellent, thank you to all those who have took the time to contact us and congratulate us. Final word goes to the programmes 'Head of Media', “It shows how far the programme has come to attempt and complete such an online programme and our challenge is to improve on it next year”
