FORMER STUDENT SEALS DREAM MOVE TO DERBY COUNTY

Congratulations to former Matlock Town student Max Hunt who has sealed a dream move to Championship side Derby County.

The 18-year-old defender has recently been on trial at Premier League club West Bromwich Albion (http://nplfa.co.uk/former-student-on-trial-at-west-brom/) but the Rams have swooped in to sign him on an initial 18 month contract after impressing their U23 management staff.

Max joined the NPL Football Academy at Matlock in 2016 and was one of our first professional graduates when he joined Mansfield Town in July 2016 whilst continuing to play for the Gladiators reserves.

He returned to Causeway Lane on a full time basis in 2017 and has recently completed a successful loan move to fellow Evo-Stik NPL side Belper Town where his talents were recognised by two Premier League clubs and Derby County.

Under the guidance of the Matlock Town Academy coaches and staff, Max has excelled in the NPL Football Academy and the club’s own development system and can now look forward to becoming a full time professional footballer.

On behalf of everyone at the NPL Football Academy, we would like to wish Max the very best of luck at Derby and we will be sure to keep an eye out for him.
