MATCHWEEK NINE - MONDAY PREVIEW

With the games coming thick and fast, the division tables are starting to take shape and the front runners of each division are starting to emerge. With six teams from the Northern Division in action, Monday’s fixtures could be pivotal in the title race.

Key Matchup

Ossett United v Radcliffe

Mondays key matchup comes from the Northern Division where Ossett United host Radcliffe.

Ossett United currently find themselves in second place in the Northern Division on 15 points, just one point behind division leaders Runcorn Linnets. They go into Monday’s game in good form, having picked up nine points out of a possible 12 since football returned on the 12th of April. They will also be pleased with the form of their number 9, Carl Clarkson who scored six goals in his last two games and earned himself the title of ‘Player of the Week!’ for #MatchweekNine.

Radcliffe on the other hand have been hot and cold since the games programme returned, having won two games out of four. They have been free scoring though, as they put six past Brighouse Town and five past Skelmersdale United. Three points for Radcliffe here would close the gap on Ossett United and Runcorn Linnets above them and keep them in the title race, but a win for Ossett keeps the pressure on the division leaders.

Northern Division

Runcorn Linnets v Skelmersdale United

Runcorn linnets currently sit at the top of the division and haven’t lost since the 22nd October. They have also picked up nine points out of a possible nine since football returned and will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Despite a 6-0 win over Witton Albion in #MatchweekSeven, Skem’s form has suffered in recent weeks, losing to Radcliffe and Brighouse Town. Monday’s fixture is the perfect opportunity to get back on track with a win.

Witton Albion v Brighouse Town

After being involved in a nine-goal thriller on Thursday and narrowly missing out on a share of the points, Witton Albion will have some positives to take into this Norther Division clash on Monday. Brighouse Town will also be in high spirits after they defeated Skelmersdale United last week and picked up their second win of the season.

Midlands Division

Carlton Town v Stafford Rangers

These sides will be familiar with each other after they met last week. Stafford Rangers were the 4-1 victors on the day and continued their impressive form whilst maintain their seven-point lead at the top of the table. Carlton Town on the other hand will have one eye on the other fixture in the Midlands Division as a win for the Nottinghamshire side could see them go into fourth place, above Mickleover (Black).

Mickleover (Red) v Mickleover (Black)

This is another repeat fixture from last week and Mickleover (Black) will be looking to improve on the result from last time as they lost 0-9 to their fellow Mickleover teammates. Mickleover (Red) have managed to keep up their excellent defensive record for the entirety of the season so far, conceding just four goals in six games whilst also scoring 33. A win is vital for Mickleover (Red) if they want to keep the pressure on Stafford Rangers at the top of the division.

Southern Division

Yate Town v Swindon Supermarine

Yate Town will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Chesham United last week with a win here. Swindon Supermarine will travel to Bristol in high spirits though having won their second game of the season last week against Kidlington. It was Yate Town who took home the points when the sides last met in December with a 0-3 win.
