MATCHWEEK TWELVE – REVIEW

In the final matchweek of the 2019, there was some brilliant performances and late goal

drama throughout the NPLFA.

In the only fixture to go ahead in the JOMA Division, Stafford Rangers beat Carlton 2-1,

thanks to a last-minute screamer from Ethan Stubbs. After a dip in form, Stafford Rangers

have got back to winning ways the past few weeks and currently sit in second place in the

JOMA Division table while Carlton remain in fifth.

In the Sports Traider Division, only Brighouse Town v Widnes survived the wicked weather.

Widnes ran out the eventual 2-4 winners on the day in some extremely foggy weather

which reduced visibility drastically. Another win for Widnes sees them extend their lead at

the top of the Sports Traider Division table while Brighouse Town remain in fifth.

There was also an NPLFA Cup Round of 16 game between Leek Town and Ossett United that

went ahead. In an eight goal thriller that saw eight different scorers, Leek Town were the

victors, beating Ossett United 5-3, and advance to the quarter-finals where they will face

Belper Town (Black).

With six teams in action before the NPLFA takes a break for the holidays, that meant a

whole number of players looking to show off their talents one last time before the new

year. . Congratulations to all players nominated by their coaches for #TeamOfTheWeek and

a special mention to Sam Worthington who was named ‘Player of the Week!’ for his

performance in #MatchweekTwelve.

See all the match highlights and goal action from #MatchweekTwelve in this week’s addition

of The Highlights Show.
