MATCHWEEK TWENTY - REVIEW

#MatchweekTwenty in the NPLFA season was upon us and it was a week packed with excitement.

Ten teams were on show as five games went ahead across both Divisions. In the Joma Division, third place Belper Town travelled to the League leaders Mickelover Sports searching to gain some ground on their Derbyshire rivals. Mickleover proved why they are at the top of the league and shunted any hoped of catching them that Belper had after a 7-0 win in which the league top scorer, Jack Thatcher scored four goals. Radcliffe managed to leap frog Carlton Town into fifth spot after beating the Nottinghamshire side 0-3 in just their seventh game of the campaign while a brace from Charlie Lucy and Harry Bickerton helped Leek Town to 5-4 win over Mossley in a brilliantly competitive game.

In the Sports Traider Division, Ross Avies proved his worth once again for Runcorn linnets as his braced sealed a 1-2 away win over Brighouse Town. Brodie Carter scored four goals for Mickleover Sports as they once again closed the gap on Widnes at the top of the table with an emphatic 11-0 over Ossett United.

With lots of goals and some brilliant performances, there were lots of names in contention for #MatchweekTwenty’s Team of the Week. congratulations to all players selected and nominated by their coaches and a special mention to Mickleover Sports student, Jack Thatcher, who’s performance in #MatchweekTwenty earned him the title of ‘Player of the Week!’.
