The South Division concludes this week with Frome Town travelling to Carlton Town in the last fixture. Meanwhile the cup competition continues with fixtures from both the North and South group.
Key Matchup
Brighouse Town v Runcorn Linnets
In the North Cup group, Runcorn Linnets travel to Brighouse Town in what could be a pivotal game in the home team’s season.
Brighouse Town are currently teetering on the edge of the top four and will progress to the quarter-finals of the cup if they avoid defeat in this matchup. However, if they lose this fixture by a two-goal deficit, they run the risk of missing out on goal difference with them being level on points with Skelmersdale United. Brighouse Town could’ve sealed a top four finish in their last fixture on Tuesday but were thwarted by their #ESPFAWestYorkshire rivals Ossett United.
Runcorn Linnets are fresh off dropping their first points of the season last week after Carlton Town put in a valiant performance to draw 2-2 with the North Division champions. They still remain at the top of the North Cup group and have already confirmed their place in the quarter-finals but after last week’s result they will be eager to get back to winning ways.
South Division
Carlton Town v Frome Town
In the final fixture of the South Division, Carlton Town and Frome Town go head-to-head. With both sides facing a tough prospect of progressing into the quarter-finals of the cup competition, both sides will want to end on a high. When the sides last met back in early December, they played out a six-goal thriller and shared the points in a 3-3 draw.
South Cup
Rushall Olympic (Black) v Rushall Olympic (Amber)
Both Rushall Olympic sides meet in the ESPFA Cup with both three points and bragging rights on offer. The Amber side can book their ticket to the next round with a win here and could even top the table at the close of play depending on how the other fixture in the South group plays out. Rushall Olympic (Black) on the other hand currently sit at the foot of the table and need a huge win to stand any chance of progressing in the competition.
Chesham United v Kidlington
The hosts currently top the South group of the cup competition and like Rushall Olympic (Amber), they too have already confirmed their place in the quarter-finals. Kidlington have played a game less than Chesham United and are only a point behind them so can top the group with a win.
