#MatchweekTwentyTwo – Preview

With Runcorn Linnets securing the North Division and Rushall Olympic (Amber) being crowned champions of the South Division, we turn our attention to #MatchweekTwentyTwo with six cup games in store.

Key Matchup

Carlton Town v Mickleover

The North Cup plays host the ‘Key Matchup’ of the week as Mickleover look for their first win in the cup competition when they travel to Carlton Town. With the two sides competing in different divisions, this should be an entertaining prospect for two unfamiliar teams.

Having wrapped up their North Division campaign last week with a 1-1 draw against Ossett United, Mickleover will hope to kickstart their cup run with a win against Carlton. They have had a tough start in the cup competition, drawing against Brighouse Town in their most recent game but suffering defeats early in the competition to Belper Town and Witton Albion.

Carlton Town find themselves above Mickleover in the North Cup table, picking up one win from their three games. The victory came in their last run out when they faced Belper Town and back-to-back wins could really help them push up the table and aid their cause of finishing in the top four.

North Cup

Belper Town v Skelmersdale United

Both sides have finished their divisional games and will be hoping to make a push up the cup table to give themselves a chance of finishing in the top four. Skelmersdale United have split their four games played in the cup having won two and lost two. Belper Town have also played four games and started their cup run well with a 3-1 win over #ESPFADerbyshire rivals Mickleover. Since then, they have not picked up a point since and will be hoping to add to their points tally on Thursday.

Brighouse Town v Witton Albion

Witton Albion have put together an excellent cup run of late, winning their last three games and currently sit at the top of the table. Brighouse Town have played three games in the cup competition and have split their results with a win, a draw and a loss. The #ESPFAWestYorkshire side have wrapped up third in the North Division and now turn their attention to the cup run.

Ossett United v Runcorn Linnets

Runcorn Linnets will be in high spirits after being crowned as champions of the North Division in recent weeks and will have their eye on the next piece of silverware in the cup competition. They have won both of their cup games and look to make it three in a row here. Ossett will be no pushovers though having won their one and only cup game against Belper Town and will hope to cause an upset against the North Division champions.

South Cup

Chesham United v Kidlington

Chesham are currently top of the South Cup table and are unbeaten in the competition after a win against Rushall Olympic (Black) and a 0-0 stalemate against Yate Town. After narrowly finishing second in the South Division, Kidlington will be bang up for this fixture as they attempt to go one better in the South Cup.

Frome Town v Rushall Olympic (Amber)

The Robins still have a lot of football to play with two more divisional games left and having played just one cup game. A win here would put them in good stead for finishing in the top four, but they will have to be on top of their game against a strong Rushall Olympic (Amber) side. Like Runcorn Linnets, Rushall will be turning their attention to the cup competition in attempt to secure a division and cup double.
