THE REVIEW - #MatchweekTwentyOne

#MatchweekTwentyOne saw some teams playing their final games before the cup competition starts to take precedent and with how close the divisions are, every point counts! We review all the action from an enthralling #MatchweekTwentyTwo.

North Division

In the North Division, second place Skelmersdale United hosted third place Brighouse Town in both the team’s final game in the division. The sides ending up sharing the points to wrap up their campaign with a 1-1 draw. Calving Haddock opened the scoring for Skelmersdale United before Elliott Haigh drew Brighouse level in the second half. Elsewhere, Ossett United and Mickleover also drew 1-1 in both of their final divisional game. In a hugely entertaining game, Ossett United started the game on top and had a few chances early doors. They managed to take one just before half time through Pawel Topa. After leading for most of the second half, Ossett looked to be heading for a win in their final game until Conley Bowman popped up for Mickleover to provide a last-minute equaliser and earn his side a point. In the final game of the North Division, Runcorn Linnets continued their impressive run and won an 11th game in a row. The North Division champions put in a solid first half performance and a Lucas Wilson double saw them go into the break 2-0 up. Mohamed Soumah scored Runcorn’s third 10 minutes into the second half and Jack McDowell pegged one back for Belper Town late on the second half.

South Division

The South Division provided lots of entertainment in the game between Rushall Olympic (Black) and Yate Town. The visitors shot out to 2-0 lead at half time after Liam Jones and Ryan Filer found the back if the net. Yate Town’s lead was short lived however and Elias Myers scored two goals in six minutes to draw his side level. With both sides knocking on the door for the winner, it was the home side who completed a monumental come back after James webster picked the ball up on the half way line, drove at the heart of the Yate Town defence and unleashed a powerful strike from 25 yards out.
