PROGRESSION WEEK – DAN TIDMARSH

The NPL Football Academy (NPLFA) is delighted to announce that Belper Town student Dan Tidmarsh is progressing to university to study Sports Science with Coaching.

Dan joined the programme back in 2016 and will now take his place at Northumbria University in September. “I have enrolled at Northumbria University to study Sports Science with Coaching for three years. My ambition is to become a physiotherapist which I can achieve by doing a MSc in Physiotherapy during an extra fourth year at university.”

The FA Youth Cup run last season was a memorable moment for the club and it’s the main highlight from Dan’s time at the club. “Playing in the FA Youth Cup was fantastic. Playing football every day and doing education with my teammates was enjoyable. It was a great opportunity to travel and play at different grounds around the country.”

Having achieved the best grade possible – a D*D*D*, Dan feels the programme can benefit school leavers in the future as it has done with him. “I received lots of support and guidance from my tutor which helped me to achieve the best grades (D*D*D*) and allowed me to get a scholarship offer at university. I would recommend the NPLFA for people who want to develop as players and still gain qualifications which will help them to achieve a career in sport.”

Everyone at the NPLFA would like to wish Dan the very best of luck at Northumbria and we look forward to catching up with him on his first year of university in 2019.
