The NPL Football Academy (NPLFA) is delighted to announce that Warrington Town student Joe Ruane is off to America after gaining a ‘Soccer Scholarship’
Joe joined the programme back in 2016 and is preparing to move across the Atlantic in the coming weeks. “I am going to St Louis Community College in Kirkwood, Missouri to study sport. It’s a two-year course initially but if I do well it will be another two years after that. I would like to eventually get into coaching if playing doesn’t work out.”
It has been a very successful two years for Joe, twice being named in the NPLFA ‘Team of the Year’ for 2016/17 and 2017/18, being selected for the inter-league team against Wigan Athletic and winning both the NPLFA Cup and NPLFA title and it is an experience he will remember for a long time. “I’ve enjoyed everything at Warrington, we have had a great group of lads and a very talented team. My stand out moment was winning the grand final in the last minute against Matlock in May.
“I would definitely recommend the programme to lads who are coming out of school and are interested in football”
Everyone at the NPLFA would like to wish Joe the very best of luck in America and we look forward to catching up with him on his first year of university in 2019.
