PROGRESSION WEEK – MORGAN HOLLOWAY

The NPL Football Academy (NPLFA) is delighted to announce that Belper Town student Morgan Holloway is progressing to university to study physical education and school sports.

Morgan joined the programme back in 2016 and will now take his place at Sheffield Hallam university in September.

He said: “I’m going to Sheffield Hallam University to study physical education and school sports on a three year course. My aim is to either do a further year of PGCE to become a PE teacher or join the police force as well as continue to progress with my football.”

The 18 year old has impressed both in the classroom and on the pitch over the last two years in what has been an enjoyable period in the youngsters life. He said: “I have enjoyed training, gaining more knowledge on the game through the good coaches we have had who have helped me improve over the two years within the academy. I have also enjoyed the educational side, learning more on sport as a whole.”

The midfielder was chosen in April to represent the NPLFA against Wigan Athletic and that occasion is one of the many stand out over the last 24 months, adding “The highlights of my time in the academy are playing for the inter-league team against Wigan, playing In the FA Youth Cup and being offered an American scholarship.

“I would recommend the NPLFA to anyone wanting to be involved in a football academy environment, training full time and improving their ability. I would just like to thank the NPLFA for a great two years, I feel like I’ve improved a lot in football which has shown as I have just signed for Heanor Town in the East Midlands Counties Football League for the oncoming season. I have made a lot of new friends, all the coaches and tutors have always been good and are there if you need them. It’s a great course to get into.”

Everyone at the NPLFA would like to wish Morgan the very best of luck at Sheffield Hallam University and we look forward to catching up with him on his first year of university in 2019.
