On Thursday 9th November, the ESPFA held their bi-annual charity 5k run for Help For Heroes with 201 of our students and coaches across our 12 programmes taking part.
In the morning, students along with their coaches took part in an hour long webinar and Q&A with guest speaker, former ESPFA Cheshire (Witton Albion) coach Martyn Irvine.
Martyn, who served in the British Army for 12 years, gave a fantastic and moving insight on his experiences and how the skills he gained in the Armed Forces can apply to civilian life where he has become a professional football coach, coach developer and business owner.
On behalf of everyone at the ESPFA, we thank Martyn for his time and his brilliant presentation.
Following the webinar, students then completed their 5k runs with second year ESPFA Cheshire (Witton Albion) student Ioannis Koutouzos coming out on top with an impressive time of 19 minutes and 30 seconds.
ESPFA Nottinghamshire (Carlton Town) were crowned the quickest team with an average time of 21 minutes and 27 seconds.
Back in 2021 when we first held our charity 5k run, the students raised a fantastic £917 and a target of £1000 was set for the 'Class of 2023'.
We are pleased to announce that we have not only reached that target but have surpassed it by half with the final total standing at £1560!
Thank you to everyone who has donated.
