TWO FORMER STUDENTS MAKE NON-LEAGUE HISTORY

Two former students were part of non-league history on Saturday when Morgan Williams and Max Hunt played for Yeovil Town at Meadow Lane, home of Notts County.

A record crowd of 16,511 watched the National League fixture, the highest attendance ever for a regular non-league game.

The duo played in defence and helped secure a clean sheet as the Glovers' held the league leaders to a goalless draw.

Both students joined the NPL Football Academy - as the ESPFA was previously known - with Hunt joining our programme at Matlock Town in 2015 and Williams enrolling a year later in 2016 at Mickleover Sports.

They followed similar paths whilst on the programme, Williams becoming the 22nd football graduate and Hunt the 27th before both establishing themselves as part of their respective first team squads in Derbyshire.

Their form in the NPLFA league and cup led to their selection for the inter-league team where they impressed against professional sides Accrington Stanley (Hunt), Port Vale and Wigan Athletic (Williams).

More success was to come when they achieved their dream of becoming professionals in 2018. Hunt first in January securing a move to local club Derby County and then in the summer, Williams joined Hunt in the EFL with a move to Coventry City.

Their footballing journey has now seen them join together at Yeovil where they have made over 100 combined appearances and everyone at the ESPFA is proud to have played a small part in their footballing careers and we continue to enjoy watching their progress.

See Morgan Williams score a 92nd minute winner in the Grand Final of 2017.
