ESPFA NATIONAL GRAND FINAL – PREVIEW

On Tuesday 24th May Runcorn Linnets, the winners of the North Division will face off against Rushall Olympic (Amber) who won the South Division in the National Grand Final. Both sides had a tremendous campaign and were worthy winners of their respective divisions.

Runcorn Linnets had an impeccable divisional season, completing the campaign with 12 wins out of 12. They had the best goal difference across the whole ESPFA Programme with +67, scoring a whopping 79 goals and conceding just 12. Much of their goal scoring prowess comes from a deadly front three of Kai Philpott, Lucas Wilson and Adam Moseley who have scored over 50 goals between them. Behind them in midfield, Jamie Whittaker and Reece Jones control the game for them and with two attacking full backs in Alex-Romio Kenamuinjo and Jamie Hague, the North Division winners are deadly going forward. Alongside competing in the National Grand Final, ‘The Linnets’ have also made it to the ESPFA Cup final after beating Skelmersdale United in the semi-final earlier this week.

Rushall Olympic (Amber) are also coming off the back of an excellent season and won the South Division by five points despite a late charge from Kidlington. The #ESPFAWestMidlands side won nine out of their 12 games, drew two and lost just once. Like Runcorn Linnets, ‘The Pics’ had an excellent goal difference scoring 50 goals in the divisional campaign and conceded 13. Tyrese Hall, the current top scorer in the ESPFA has been on a hot run of form all season and has scored 25 goals so far. As the main spearhead of the Rushall Olympic (Amber) attack, he could be key to causing problems for the Runcorn Linnets defence. Alongside Hall, Trafford Woolery, Jordan Hobbs and Kristian Storer have all chipped in with goals and provided countless assists this year.

The National Grand Final will be played at Stafford Town FC Tuesday 24th of May and will kick off at 12PM. This game will be one of the showcase matches of the season and with two brilliantly coached teams with a whole host of excellent players, we can’t wait to see how this game plays out.
