THE REVIEW - Matchweek Six

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

#MatchweekSix saw ESPFA Cheshire (Witton Albion) maintain their 100% start to the season and we have new leaders in the Midlands division.

ESPFA Cheshire (Witton Albion) secured a convincing win over ESPFA Greater Manchester (Mossley AFC) to maintain their 100% start to the season.

Ioannis Koutouzos got the ball rolling in the fifth minute when the ball fell to him in the six yard box before he powered home the opener.

Soon after Isaac Shaw doubled their lead with a strike just inside the 18 yard box.

Michail Eleftheriadis headed in a third before an own goal gave the hosts their fourth and a commanding half time lead.

Emanuel Hickson cooly slotted home a fifth before Shaw doubled his tally with a sweet strike from 18 yards.

Jake Tyson's header put the Cheshire side in seventh heaven before further goals from Harry Woodham and a second for Emanuel Hickson made it nine goals and another set of maximum points for the Albion.

Two of their closest rivals met when ESPFA Lancashire (Skelmersdale United) took their 100% record to ESPFA Cheshire (Runcorn Linnets).

It was no surprise that the kings of set pieces took the lead via a free kick when Ryan Hunt's looping header put the visitors in front.

Billy McNay's determination brought the hosts back into the game with an equaliser before Ryan McAlpine turned the game around with a strong header from a corner.

Hotshot Adam Moseley put the Linnets further ahead when he found a gap in the Blues defence and struck from 18 yards and the first team graduate went on to secure his hat-trick when he grabbed his second from the penalty spot and his third taking advantage of torrential conditions to beat the goalkeeper and finish with ease.

In the final North division game in West Yorkshire, one of the teams winless records had to go between Brighouse Town and Ossett United.

Bobby Isbell and Liam Shaw put the visitors two goals ahead within two minutes of each other at the midway point of the first half.

Keel Del-Grande extended the lead with a close range finish from a free kick before Isbell got his second of the game with a cooly taken penalty.

Del Grande joined Isbell with a brace when he tapped in from six yards.

Jamie Marsden scored a consolation goal before Logan Sheridan scored the goal of the game with a curling shot from 25 yards.

In the Midlands division, there was a fantastic game between ESPFA West Midlands (Rushall Olympic Amber) and ESPFA Staffordshire (Stafford Town).

Josh Langley's long shot put the reigning champions in front and a Jack McDermott header doubled the lead soon after.

Lemar OConnor's impressive touch and finish gave the visitors hope of a comeback before half time before Jaydon Brown brought the reds back into the game with an equaliser following good pressing of the goalkeeper.

Harvey Bowen completed the comeback with a sweet left footed strike to put the Staffordshire side in front but Mattaeus Morgan's well guided header tied the game once again.

The game was won with the last kick of the game, the ball finding its way to McDermott at the back post to tap in and spark wild celebrations with the three points staying in the West Midlands.
