#MatchweekEleven – Preview

As 2021 comes to a close, there are three fixtures left to play before the Christmas break. We have two cup games on the cards and the final league game of the calendar year from the South Division where Rushall Olympic (Amber) face Rushall Olympic (Black).

Key Matchup

Yate Town v Frome Town

This week’s key matchup comes the first game of the South Cup where Yate Town welcome Frome Town. In the South Cup, when all games are complete the top four teams will progress to the knockout stage, so both teams will be wanting to get off to a good start and claim all three points.

The two sides have already met once in the league so far, back in #MatchweekFour. It was Yate Town that were the victors on that occasion, winning 4-2 with the goals spread throughout the team.

Since that fixture, Yate Town have had a mixed bag of results, winning one game, drawing two and losing their most recent fixture to Rushall Black. Frome on the other hand haven’t tasted victory since #MatchweekOne having lost one and drawing two of their games since they last faced Yate Town.

These are two very evenly matched teams that will provide us with an exciting opening fixture of the South Cup.

South Division

Rushall Olympic (Amber) v Rushall Olympic (Black)

In the South Division, it’s the battle of the west midlands as the Amber Cohort take on the Black cohort. Rushall Olympic (Amber) go into the game in second place in the South Division and remain the only unbeaten team in the division. Kidlington, who sit above them in first are three points ahead of Rushall Olypmic (Amber) have played two more games than Rushall. A win for the amber cohort would take them back to the top of the division due to them having a better goal difference then The Greens. Rushall Olympic (Black) have been in good form themselves of late and have gained 10 points from their last five games. They currently sit third in the South Division, just three points behind their fellow #ESPFAWestMidlands Rushall Olympic (Amber) side.

North Cup

Skelmersdale United v Brighouse Town

These two northern sides face off in just the second North Cup fixture so far this season and it is expected to be a close affair. Both teams are level on points in the North Division on 13 and are yet to meet this season but are both jostling for position behind Runcorn linnets.
